Bitty City is a group accountability game. This policy explains what we collect and why.
We store the account details you give us (email address and display name) and your game data (groups, daily goals, completions, and city state) in Google Firebase (Firestore and Authentication). This is used solely to run the game and sync it across your devices.
When you mark a goal done, you can choose to add a photo as proof, taken with your camera or picked from your photo library. This is always optional: skipping still counts. Bitty City only asks for camera or photo library access when you choose one of those options, and only the photo you pick is uploaded. Photos are stored in Google Firebase (Cloud Storage), linked to your account, and can be seen only by members of the city you posted them in. They are never used for advertising or shared outside that city. If you leave a city, the photos you posted there stay with it; they are deleted when you delete your account or when the city is deleted.
If you turn on Apple Health, Bitty City reads your steps, exercise minutes, workouts and mindful minutes so it can check you in when you meet your city's goal. It only reads; it never writes anything to Apple Health. Your Health data stays on your phone: the only thing that leaves it is a summary of today's total toward your goal (for example "10,212 steps" or "a 5.2 km run"), sent when you're checked in. That summary is shown to your city only if you turn on Show my numbers to my crew, which is off unless you turn it on; otherwise your city just sees that you checked in. Health data is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, never added to analytics, and never shared with anyone else.
Bitty City doesn't connect to Strava. If you choose Strava, Strava sends your activities to Apple Health (with Strava's own Send to Health setting), and Bitty City reads them from there like any other workout.
You can stop at any time: Settings → Apple Health → Disconnect in the app, or remove Bitty City's access in the Health app (your photo → Apps → Bitty City). Turning off Show my numbers to my crew also removes the numbers you've already shared, and deleting your account removes them all.
If you allow notifications, we store a push token for your device so we can send reminders, your crew's check-ins and cheers, warnings before a meteor hits your city, and notices that Apple Health checked you in. You can turn them off at any time in the app's Settings or in iOS Settings.
We collect anonymized usage analytics (Firebase Analytics) to understand how the app is used and improve it, and device attestation data (Firebase App Check) to protect the service from abuse.
We don't sell your data, we don't use it for advertising, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.
Members of a city you join can see your display name, your daily completion status, any proof photos you add in that city, comments you leave on proofs, and (only if you turn on sharing) your Apple Health numbers. That's the point of the game.
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings → Delete account inside the app. This removes your profile and the proof photos you added, leaves every city (cities you founded are deleted for all members), and deletes your login. You can also email us and we'll handle it.
